Omada Health is a program that includes professional health coaching, robust peer support, an engaging and interactive health curriculum, and smart tech to monitor and enhance progress.
CROSS-PLATFORM, END-TO-END PRODUCT DESIGN
Design System
Establishing a shared design language
In order to have a cohesive and consistent product that is scaleable, you need to make sure all the designers and engineers are speaking the same language.
After setting the general brand guidelines, I worked on creating a design system and regularly paired with a front-end engineer to implement it in our codebase for all teams to use.
Overview of Projects
Group Board
The group is an important part of the Omada program. These are the people our participants start their journey with and can talk to about their struggles and share their experience as they move through the program together. We're trying to improve the discussion board to help them quickly navigate through topics relevant to them.
Reactions
Participants in the Omada program that track their meals regularly tend to do better in the program and lose more weight. To motivate them to track more meals we added Reactions after they track a meal to test if this form of positive reinforcement would increase their meal tracking.
Phase Kits
Print, Packaging Design
The core part of Prevent consists of 16 weeks, 4 simple phases where we introduce our participants to change their food habits, increase their activity levels, learn how to deal with challenges and reinforce their habits.
Every phase we send them a new kit that will support them with the new challenges they will face, starting of with a Welcome Kit that includes a wireless scale that we encourage them to use consistently to weigh themselves.
Microsurveys
In order to gather more feedback from our participants to help improve their experience, we created a microsurvey within the app where they can quickly share their preference and while giving us valuable data it immediately gets them access to relevant resources.
Prevent Web Application
We were constantly trying to improve the web application as it's the oldest part of the product and in need of constant updating. The fact that you have a lot more real estate to work with on the web makes it even more important to figure out what the user sees and to make sure not to overwhelm them.
We've been doing a lot of experimenting and A/B testing at Omada to figure out what has the most impact on weight loss, and more importantly, sustained weight loss.
Prevent Mobile (Android & iOS)
When I first joined my responsibility was mainly designing for the Android and iOS app. The goal was to get the mobile apps to feature parity with the web application. Not only did we manage to do that within a year, we improved upon the features and influenced the web product with the new food and activity trackers.
Omada was a three year journey of end-to-end product design across platforms that turned me into an experienced senior product designer.
